A note from the owners

Our website aims to paint a true picture of FOUNTAINHEAD. We are classified a ‘chic retreat’ and a ‘boutique hotel’ but we do not feel we fit into a particular category. You can find us listed alongside the humble B&B as well as being grouped within the luxury market alongside some of the world’s very best hotels. We are small and unique, and family owned. We offer a redefined luxury - that of peace, privacy, health and simplicity in beautiful surroundings.
We feel very privileged to be able to live and work in this beautiful part of the world. There is to many one word that sums up Andalucia and that is happiness. To own a plot of land, to grow produce, to relax in the shade of a tree, to share a meal with family and friends. We hope that FOUNTAINHEAD is a contemporary reflection of this essential way of life.

Hotel

FOUNTAINHEAD is a weekend destination hotel set in a wild and beautiful location. This is a place of peace, somewhere to relax and to experience a oneness with nature that enriches and and benefits body and soul. Forget the technology for a while - there are no screens or phones or plug in points, although if you must we can hook you up somehow. No maids to disturb but every detail thoughtfully taken care of. A place where you can rustle up your own breakfast when and how you like. Awake to find fresh bread and pastries at your door. This is somewhere to feel totally at home. You are left alone with everything you need unless you need us. We offer total discretion and privacy with a small personal team who aim to see that you have an unforgettable stay.

Suites

All the FOUNTAINHEAD suites have eccentric and striking interiors that are a mix of film set, rustic charm and luxurious glamour. Each suite is private and separate. Each has a king sized bedroom, bathroom, dining area with cooking facilities, living area and log stove fireplace. Outside, each has its own private terrace/garden and plunge pool. All have stunning mountain views. The rooms are well equipped including a radio CD tape deck and are cooled by ceiling fans. Opening picture windows are fitted with insect screens. All suites are accessed by their own flight of steps except the Sultan, which has its own private entrance on the level.

Dining

FOUNTAINHEAD is well known for its intimate restaurant. This is award winning cooking that is modern and healthy, serving dishes with plenty of Spanish influences that don't disappoint. The surrounding hillsides are naturally organic. We harvest our olive and almond crops, use our own olive oil and grow lots of produce. This is a food lover's paradise and the harvests of Andalucia are naturally reflected in the restaurant's menu - their taste alone is simply better. The restaurant has a private dining room, lounge bar and open courtyard. It also provides a traiteur menu and bar service for 'in suite' dining. Travel

With one of the best climates in the world Andalucia is an easy and great place to travel to all year round. Visit us to simply escape the pressures of the working week….to honeymoon weekend ..to rekindle or rejuvenate. We are forty minutes by road north east of Malaga near the white village of Riogordo. Should you be visiting cultural gems such as the Alhambra(Granada), the Mezquita(Cordoba), Seville, Ronda or the Picasso museum (Malaga) then we are perfectly situated to fit into your itinerary - perhaps at the beginning or end of your stay. The nearest airport is Malaga being only a 40-minute transfer by road. Granada and its airport are just over an hour away. Seville, Jerez, Gibraltar and Almeria airports are between 2-3 hours away. Madrid is 6 hours by car or under an hour by internal flight. Car hire is an easy option for transfer. Chauffeur driven cars can be arranged but they will not negotiate the last two km - off road track. We can arrange linking transport. Functions and sole use of the hotel

Your entire special event needs can be organized. From the small intimate gathering or quiet family dinner to an elaborate party with live music and dancing. As formal or as informal as you like. For corporate entertaining, use our private room for meetings over brunch, lunch or buffet, meet later for evening dining – we can organize great shopping trips for spouses! Let us know your ideas or give us a starting point and we will come up with them for you.

Wedding Reception

FOUNTAINHEAD can be booked exclusively for your wedding reception. Enjoy sole use of the hotel for an entire weekend. Celebrate your wedding in a very special way with family and friends. Our new circular Bath House converts to an intimate chapel-like space. Lit solely with candles and micro floor lamps, it is a very gentle space that can allow you and your partner to come together in a unique and personal way. If you are perhaps intending to marry in a local registry office but want to have a wedding blessing and a small scale reception in more romantic surroundings…this may be for you. Body health program

At Fountainhead the Restaurant already produces healthy, modern World cuisine using fresh produce. Our a la carte menu always has at least one choice per course that is a light healthy option. The body health program takes this a step further. We feed you with inspiring and flavourful food that is balanced and nutritious using many raw ingredients. The menus are designed specifically to cleanse and empower the body. Combine this with detox treatments in our natural spa and relaxation in your suite you could leave not only looking good but feeling good throughout.

If you come to us exhausted, overworked and craving relaxation then just spending a few days de stressing here will help – wonderful climate, clean air, gentle sounds, great food and wine, a splash in your own private plunge pool, a good book and perhaps a spa treatment or two. If however you want to change your pattern and would like to start on setting the foundations for better health then the body health program can set you up for continuing a healthier outlook back home. Come with your partner- who doesn’t have to do what you do! And treat yourself to a unique and revitalising experience.

Children

The Arizona suite has an extra small bedroom and shower room. Its plunge pool is gated and therefore it makes the most suitable accommodation for one (or two small children). Beds and a crib can be provided at no extra charge. We can also organize baby-sitting and cookery classes.

Opening times

The hotel is open from Valentines Day in February through to Mid November. We are also open at Christmas and New Year. We can be open at other times by prior arrangement for larger parties and events.

'Recipe for Tranquility'   3/4/5 - night weekend natural spa package from 1150.00 Euros all inclusive   Let us guide you through a weekend of total relaxation. Just book your flight, pack a good book and something special to wear. All included: A car and driver to meet you at the airport and transport you to the hotel. Suite accommodation for two, taxes, breakfast, dinner each night in the restaurant, a fabulously stocked fridge and a bottle of Cava on arrival. Light tapas delivered to your suite at lunchtimes. Price also includes use of our new spa facilities: One full body massage (80minutes) in the privacy of the Bath house or your suite. One private Bath house session - experience a deep float in our unique candlelit sunken 'earth bath'. Relax in cooling waters with dead sea salts and essential oils (80minutes)....and when it is time to go....a relaxing drive back to the airport.

Body health programme  5 night all inclusive detox ’eating your way to health and spa cleansing’ Rate 1500.00 Euros This rate is for one person and includes suite accommodation with private garden terrace, plunge pool and mountain view. Also included all taxes, a fully stocked fridge on arrival, all food and health drinks and spa treatments. One full body massage, one facial treatment, two spa bath sessions.

For your partner to join you there is no additional accommodation cost. If your partner wants to join in fully with the health program the additional cost is 370.00 Euros all inclusive allowing for 1 extra massage and sharing the bath house sessions.

For your partner to take meals a la carte [dinner] and room service [lunch] the additional cost is 250.00 Euros excluding bar/wine. A taste of Andalusia  5 night inclusive stay and guided tour of Andalusia’s highlights 2150.00 Euros This rate is for two people sharing a suite. The rate includes airport transfers, suite accommodation with private garden terrace, plunge pool and mountain view all taxes and a fully stocked fridge on arrival. Fresh bread and pastries delivered to your door each morning, dinner for two in the Fountainhead restaurant. Included itinerary. Two days at 6 hours each and two half days at 3 hours each. Times to suit. A visit to the Alhambra Palace, Granada. A mountain drive to visit the local white villages. A visit to the local olive mill, tasting local sherry and Serrano ham at the oldest inn in Andalusia. A visit to the Picasso museum in Malaga, the bull ring, the castle and tapas lunch in one of Malaga's famous bars. All transportation and entry tickets are included. This package can be adapted and spa sessions can be added.

Do absolutely nothing week 7 nights inclusive package _ 1530.00 Euros.  This rate includes suite accommodation for two people, tax, dinner for two each night in the Restaurant, a fabulously stocked fridge for breakfasts and a bottle of Cava on arrival.
